got a 1999 A4 that I can not get the radio to work on. I know there are a ton of posts about radio codes and issues with 'SAFE' mode, I have read most. The problem I am having is that I can not get the radio to even let me punch in the radio code!! Any suggestions??

under trouble shooting? It just consistantely says 'SAFE' and you can get past it to put in the radio code.

 

If the two buttons you're depressing don't let you enter the code you either have the wrong two buttons pressed or its locked in SAFE mode.
If its locked in safe mode you need to leave the radio on for an hour until the radio turns itself off. Push the power button and walk away from the car for an hour then try pressing the two buttons again, it should let you put in the code now.

 

Which radio do you have? Symphony, concert, etcc?????

Hi, I am having problems with my audi 1999 A4,I left the radio on for on hour and longer and the safe mode was on the radio display, I can't even try to put in the code.what can I do?I don't know if I am pressing the right buttons my husband did it before but I want to know what we doing wrong

 

I believe it's the FM and RDS buttons (from my very foggy and couple years old memory). You actually need to leave the car on while you're playing the waiting game, so you might as well go for a drive with the radio on. After about an hour, try pressing and holding the buttons. If no luck, wait a few more minutes. Eventually you can input your code. If you don't have your code, call Audi of America and they should help you out if you give them your VIN.
