Well after crying in June of 200 when the uneducated Audi dealer told me it was
a least 12,500 to fix my motor in my 4.2 L 2000 A8L I replaced the motor.

I got one from a junkyard for $1800. This is after I waited a year as the same guy
at first wanted $5000 for the same motor. I won that battle I thought. The motor
alledgedly had 50,000 miles on it.

I drove the car abou 750 miles before it stalled. I started it up
and it barely made it home. Misfires on all cyclinders. I towed it to my
favorite shop. He found the cyclinder under the gas cap was the issue.

There was a rusty spring that broke in three places that caused it all.

Its up and running again !
