Changing Wheel Sizes

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I searched for awhile and couldn't find the answer. I have a 97 A8 currently mounted with 245/45/18 summer tires, I just picked up a pair of 205/55/16 snow tires that came off an Audi A6. Can I just mount them up and go, or do I need to go to a tire shop. I understand my speedometer will be off, but I'm not that worried about that. Does anything else need to be adjusted, quattro stuff or any other computer stuff? Sorry if this is a dumb question, thanks in advance for your help.

The 16's you picked up seem to be at least 1 size minus, smaller in diameter than your 18's. I don't know about your A8, but check to see IF the 16's clear your front brakes first. I don't think your car's computer needs to know the tire size ( or cares).

225's would have been a better fit, for overall rolling diameter. You'll be reading a higher speed than you're actually treavelling. Go here, to see how much off you will be: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

Thanks for the help guys. Is there a way to see if the 16's will clear the brakes before I just try to put them on?
