Check engine light came on - dealer says needs to update/reprogram computer - they had recently received tech serv bulletin......$400.....anyone run into this?

 

You should state the year and model. Upgraging the ECU should be free.
If it's not free take it to AutoZone and have them read the codes.
Let us know what they are.

 

i have a 2000 a4 manual, with APR's stage3 turbo kit. i am getting P0422 code. bank1 maincatlyst below threshold. i am already running a custom testpipe file from APR to try and eliminate the code and it didn't work. plz help i have to pass emission in my state in 20 days or so and they fail for check engine lights in stl missouri

 

Work with APR to find a fix.

 

your gettin that code because you have no cat. you either need to get an O2 simulator or some custom ecu programming.

 

coop. i have heard of this o2 simulator once before. could u explain what i could see a picture of this, what it is, how it works.. or anything. i just need my car to pass and any enlightnment would help.
