Default clutch

Hello All!
I think i need a new clutch for my 2000 a6 avant Q. It seems to be slightly skipping when i go up hills in moderate speed. if i go fast, no problem. According to other posts this seems to be the issue. What should this cost me? i have been getting hosed left and right getting this car fixed in the past.

Are you sure its not the engine bogging down? Try downshifting when going up hill.

Dank,
doesn't seem to be bogging down. usually it happens when i am going up a very slight incline and going at moderate speed. sometimes it happens when i apply no gas at all. Thoughts?

hehe yeah really were talking mauel trans here buddy not an automatic. One way to test a clutch is to cruise at high gear then floor it at an rpm near the torque peak. If the rpms jump withouth the speed increase then you need a clutch. Clutchs can range anywhere from 700 to well over a thosand. Its a fairly involved job that requires transmission removal.

also to check the clutch, if the clutch catches all the way at the end of the depresion of the pedal, then the clutch is worn.
if you be carefull, you can still drive it, safe some money and get some ceramic clutch asembly.
gently, on high gears.

I drive a 1999.5 A4 1.8T Q with 110K mi. Was at the shop earlier this week for another problem but asked about my clutch. They told me a good way to test your clutch is floor it in 4th gear going about 30-40mph. If your rpms shoot up and you have no power its time for a new clutch, if not your're ok.

On another note if you ever get an engine misfire code and the plugs and coils are OK your problem is most likely an Ignition Control Unit. Cost me $240 to replace.
