Default clutch issues

i have an 2001 audi a4 1.8t, 45,000 miles. i have been experiencing a clicking/ticking noise when i push and release the clutch.....only after driving the car for about 15 minutes.(when the car starts, no sound) the sound increasingly gets louder if i continue to drive, esp w/ the AC on. funny thing is no type of maintenance light has popped up. i took into a mechanic(warranty expired)....he said just from hearing the noise that he need to go through the transmission to check for the sound and would need to replace the clutch. from the feel of my clutch, it has plenty of life in it. i know very little about the mechanical aspects of vehicles, so im wondering if im being taken for a ride, or if any of you have experienced the same ticking/clicking noise when using your clutch. lastly, i live in the chicagoland area, can anyone please recommend a certified, reliable and honest audi mechanic. thanks in advance! all advice is appreciated!

It could be throw out bearing, but as I know, AUDI and VW dont have one, they use a pin.
check your transmision oil level. could be low.
