Default Clutch Problems

I have a 2006 A4 2.0 with 25,000 miles. The clutch recently failed and the delaership said the clutch broke apart. Audi said this was caused by customer abuse but never could provide an example of how this could happen. After the clutch was replaced, we found a bad transmission synchronizer. What can cause a clutch to completely break apart?

Thanks

customer abuse heheh that's an old one, clutch plate is covered by a warranty because its a consumable part BUT in your case ( they said it broke apart ) and this means a defective clutch and the fact its a 2006 with 25k on the clock the worst you could do is burn the clutch plate out not break it apart, they have to replace it

If the clutch gets to hot the friction material can seperate from the backing plate causing it to break apart. Bad synchros are usually caused by repeated high rpm shifting.
