Control Arms

Got no responses in the A4 section, I'll try here:

New member here. Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but a control arm question.

I have to replace my upper control arms, did Audi 'fix' the stock arms and it's OK to replace with the updated (if any) factory parts, or should I go with aftermarket? Any aftermarket I should stay away from?

Thanks in Advance.

I would defently go for the audi link arms I don't think they even make pattern link arms and if they did they certainaly wouldn't be to the same standard. It's very rare to see the audi top link arms get play in the ball joints anyway it's normally the lower straight link arm which is the only one that audi will replace under a warranty issue if you have keep up to date with your serviceing.

RE: Audi parts

Thanks.

I had the car in for a service, and they checked the lowers, which they said were OK. They said the uppers were bad, and I have been having the 'clunking' others have talked about. No squeeking.

my 96 a6 q wagon had an intermitant clunk from the passenger front
turns out it was the motor mount on that side.

RE: Control Arms

Myle Control arms are pretty good. They are of a more robust design, definitely better than the Audi OEM variety.

Gee what luck, was about to do a search for the upper control arm replacement issues.

My 1998 2.6 A4 avant gets a knocking noise when going over a bump. checked the control arms and the upper arm on mine also has play (front arm) the play is in a up/down movement and is fine on the horizontal plane.

Does any1 have a parts diagram of the front suspension ?

thanks
