Coolant temperature too high

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday evening, my A7 had gave a 'Coolant temperature too high" warning sign and state: Let engine run with vehicle stationary, It had never gave me any problem except yesterday, and my a7 has only 25km on it, I can't believe this happen so soon, I've check the coolant level and it's normal, I start the car this morning, and idle it for 15mins, everything seems ok, the coolant temperature reading station @ 90 degrees. So I start to drive out and after running the car on the road for 5mins, the coolant reading begins to rise and very soon it reach to the max and the coolant warning sign lights up, so I had to pull over.
Too bad the car had just past the waranty period, so any help or advise will be much appreciate.

Overheating?

More than likely your gonna need a thermostat. Recommend taking it to a dealer. They will replace it with an updated part number.

Thank you for your reply, yes it was the thermostat failure, and Audi service had fixed it even thought my audi warranty had expire just 6 months ago but because the car has only 25,000 km on it, so they did it almost for free, only charge me a little on the labour because it was a big job to replace the thermostat apparently
