I have a '99 A6. The in dash cupholder (above the radio) is stuck in the closed position. Any suggestions on getting it unstuck? I've already replaced the one on the console which was stuck in the "up" position which cost $100...which I'd like to avoid this time around if possible. Thanks in advance...leigh

 

Mine was stuck also when I bought the car. That thing is an accident waiting to happen. Coke had been spilt on it and never cleaned. You can pop off the upper section of the dash around the cup holder and buttons..after that there are a few tabs that unlock the entire cup holder cartridge. There is a LED typ light that you will have to unplug. The whole component comes out. I had to perform minor surgery and take out the coil spring, gear, the actual cup holder and clean it all up and piece back together. It works like new now...and I learned some new enginering in the process.

There were a few on ebay at that time also but, mine is working 100% now at no cost!!!!
