Custom Headlight Mod... NEED HELP/ADVICE
I have a B6 A4.... and I'm tired of the lame looking headlights. So I decided to investigate making some changes instead of buying a whole new part, when I'm thinking I can do it myself.
I'm looking to:
1) Remove the Amber reflector in the corner
2) Paint the chrome piece on the front of the headlight (the bottom and inboard piece that sits in front of the bulbs, I don't know the exact part name)
3) Put a clear bulb where my signal is.... (I already have the bulbs, but i'll wait on the other mods to put them in)
HAS ANYONE DONE THIS BEFORE, OR COULD GIVE ME A LITTLE HELP OR ADVICE ON TACKLING THIS JOB MYSELF?
Any thoughts on what paint i could use for the chrome pieces?

i had a B5 A4 and i did the same mod you are talking about on that car. I found site someone created on how to remove the amber lense. It was a very crude way though and i dont recommend it. Their instructions were to remove the light from the car, take the bulb out for the blinker....then reaching through the hole with a screw driver or other blunt object "break the lense"...then pull the small amber "chunks" through the bulb hole. It ends up scratching the hell out of the clear face of the headlight from the inside. I wouldnt do it that way if you come across those instructions. On my Jetta I took the front clear plastic off the light and painted the inside black, masking off the actual reflective parts for the beams of course. The paint doesnt adhere well though to such a smooth suface so dont touch it or it might flake off. If you put the headlight in the oven at very very low heat it will soften the adhesive that holds on the clear headlight lense, it comes off a lot easier. I had trouble with mine because i didnt do that haha. I performed this a few years ago and i guess i should have read up on it more first. You will be amazed what you can find on yahoo using the correct key search words.
