I have a 2000 A6 4.2 which has GPS. I noticed that a lot of Audi's center display is defective. Was there ever a recall on these? If not, do I have to pay $1000.00 for a new one or is there a quick fix or part I can buy? I know I can't be the only one with this question.

You are definitely not the only one, this is well known/ documented issue. No recall in N/America, only fix is replace the instrument cluster.
