Default DID I F*** UP?

I have an 2001 A4 Avant 2.8 auto/tip. I bought the car w/ 55,000 miles and it now has 59,000. around 500 miles or so ago the transmission started shifting a little funny, not really even noticeable to anyone but myself; just some thumping in and around a few lower gears

Today I brought it in to the get the fluid flushed, the mechanic just called and said it was very dark and sounded alittle odd saying it could be good or bad. I just read a couple of articles on line that have gotten me to think that tomorrow I am going to pick up my car and my transmission w/ it's new slippery fluid is going to crap out on the drive home.

Anyone have any experience w/ this and could shed some insight?

thanks

You are sounding half/full for optimisum...........[]

Yes you have very good reason for looking more closely and monitoring the transmission. Black, burned, tranny fluide after experiencing unusual and maybe abnormal tranny operation is reason for alarm! My thought, and I doubt changing fluid is going to make everything ok, yes, you may be experiencing transmission problems that may grow deeper upon miles. This is where I would consider consulting a transmission specialist who knows Audi Quattro, assuming this is what you have. Quattro trannies have more things going on than your average tranny and it may be related, sooner found the better, maybe, but I cannot help you with prior, similar, experience, hopefully someone here can be more knowledged.........

You should be ok, our transmissions just half a quart low will cause severe shifting problems, the fluid always looks really dirty when draining them. Give it a really good drive when you get it back to make sure the complaint has been resolved. If not check for fault codes, it may have a torque converter fault, but i doubt it.
P.S. there are only about 15-20 techs in the entire united states certified to rebuild tiptronic transmissions, me being one of them.
