Dreaded P0322 code and what to do next...
 

I picked up a winter driving car and am having electrical problems with it. It is a 2002 Audi A6 Quattro 3.0L automatic. I replaced the 4 cam position sensors, the speed sensor, and the oil pressure sender (that fixed the 3 beeps and the low oil indicator) had the timing belt and water pump replaced at 120k (150k now) Also replaced the emissions sensor - forgot its name. Can't seem to drive the car over 15 miles without it shutting the engine off for 1 to 4 seconds. If the car is moving, it comes back on, otherwise it is a hard start and the epc light usually comes on and the check engine light. When it went off at 60mph for 4 seconds the engine light was flashing - and since, the cruise control doesn't work. The engine codes I get now are P0322, P0025, and P0456. I'm tired of throwing money at this thing, and just need it to drive well for 2-3 winters. I don't know that I can trust it like it is, and its gonna snow soon. Any suggestions?

The P0456 is nothing. It's can be caused by a loose gas cap. However, the one that concerns me is the P0025. That can be the cam chain tensioner. See here.. https://www.obd-codes.com/p0025

However, you said you replaced 4 cam sensors. There are only 2 (one per side)

But... Before we get too carried away check a couple of simple things first. Make sure all of the connections are clean and tight. Disconnect those sensors that you replaced and make sure they are clean and the that the catches click and engage fully. Also check for any wiring damage to those sensors. And the most important thing is to check to make sure that the engine wiring harness ground wires are secure. These are usually several wires (usually brown in color) with ends that are slipped on to a bolt on the engine and secured with nut. Loosening these a couple of turns and retightening will reseat the ground connections.

Is the engine running rough? A flashing Check Engine Lights means a bad misfire and is very noticable.

My brother-in-law is coming over today. We'll check the connections to the sensors. I replaced 4 impulse sensors which were sold as camshaft position sensors. Each side had two. One on top, one on bottom. I'll see if I can get a photo of them. As I recall, the plastic housing of the wiring on one of them was broken.

OK, so I cleaned the contacts on the 4 cam position sensors I installed. The lower one on the driver side was soaking wet from anti-freeze. I had replaced the reservoir because it was tripping on the manifold and I guess one of the 4 sensors got real wet. Test drove after cleaning those sensors and it died at the first traffic light a few blocks away. Brother-in-law thinks it might be the Ignition Control Unit/Module, can't seem to find a part for the 3.0L engine. All say 2.7L like Beru 4A0 905 351 A part. Any Idea where its located? I'll have to pull it to get the right part number off the one I have.

I think it's located under the plastic cover located just behind the air filter box. The cover is held in place with couple of screws or clips.

According to the manual, the 3.0L engine doesn't seem to have an Ignition Control Module/Unit, just an ECM:
