Default ECT on 2.8 12v

ok does anyone know were the ECT ( electronic coolant tempreture) sensor is located on a 2.8 12v motor. ive seen the writeups for the 1.8t and the 30v but cant find something on the 12v. i found a sensor in the genera location of the 30v but its black not blue or green. also ive heard that on the AFC motors its located on the coolant resivoir side and not under the intake tube like on the 30v. my gauge is being gay. i know the cars heating up because i changed the t-stat a few months ago, the oil heats up and the heater blows hot, just the gauge dosent move or move very slowly.

ECT Thermal switch F-76 is located on the large coolant pipe, passenger side, just back of where it bolts to the block below the head. To quote Bentleys, "Newer electronic version with 3 terminals replaces 4 terminal version; no change to wiring harness or connector required." There are a couple of procedures to test the gauge, but I haven't found the one to test the switch.

Your looking at the right one- the ECt sensor on your motor is in the same spot. And it is black- The new upgraded one is green.

The gray 3 pin sensor is the g62 responsible for the gauge indications. So if that is your only problem, than that's the one to change.

Sorry, but I disagree. On my '95 Cab 2.8L I traced the Bentley's wiring diagram for F76 and it goes to the gauge. G62 sends info to the MFI Eng Control Module (ECM) but I could not find a wiring diagram showing that. There are different 2.8L engines, as I recently discovered on these pages, but he said his was 12 valve (2.8L V6 2V).Pull the connector and I bet the gauge will not be affected by G62. I'd like to know, though.
