electrical

When I had my heater core put in, they took out the dash, left it exposed, so EVERYTHING got wet, (I know, freakin idiots) now I am having problems with my oil gauges and sometimes my gas and temperature gauge does not work, my sunroof got jammed one day as well. If I drive 30 minutes or so, an alarm, or high pitched humming starts, for about 10 min., along with gauges going bezerk and battery lite. PLEASE tell me this just needs time to dry out and it is nothing major.

Not to be the bearer of bad news. But water and electrical components aren't a good combo. That doesn't mean that everything is going to go kaput, but it makes it much more likely that if stuff is wet it could short out and become a much bigger problem. If you know this is causing the issues, I'd take it back to the shop that did the heater core replacement and complain.

Thanx for the reply. Unfortunately, I did bring it back and it wasn't pretty. They are not pro's by any means but I just wanted to get an idea if this could POSSIBLY rectify itself.

I suppose possibly it could rectify itself, if in fact it is wet, and it eventually dries out or you are able to get everything dry somehow.

The only point of reference I can use is... once I dropped a cell phone into a bathtub. It didn't work. I took it apart and let it dry for about a week and "Viola!" it started working again.

Also, I was in an accident on a Seadoo that got sunk by a boat that ran into it, and of course it didn't run afterwards. But after pulling all the spark plugs and drying the engine compartment out in the sun I got it running again.
