So, I recently purchased a Audi TT Turbo 2001. It has 55k miles and runs well. The engine light recently came on. I had someone use a scanner tool on it and the tool read P1296. It had something to do with the "air meter"? I think. When I start the engine from a cold start, the engine RPMs fluctuate for about 10 seconds and then it is OK. Also, if I drive the car for less than 1 mile and then restart it, I have problems restarting it. I have to turn the engine over for about a full 6 or 7 seconds to get it to start.

If anyone has experienced the same proplem, I would love to know how to solve it. My "neighborhood" mechanic thinks it may be the air meter or some sensor.
