Engine running too cool
2000A-4 ATW FWD
Ok so i know an engine running too cold is a very bad thing. but right now the only thing i can think of is the thermostat is stuck open or the fan is engaged when it shouldnt be. ill give you the symtems and see if you can come up with some more possablilitys.
alright so my gauge reads at one bar there are four more untill it is at the half way marker. this happens while im on the freeway or just driving around. but if im sitting at a light or in traffic the gauge will creep up and go to the the middle. wich i think is supposed to be the normal engine opperating temp.
im kinda tight for money right now so i dont want to start repacing stuff if it isnt needed. plus i still have to do my timing belt. and if it is the temostat i might as well do it while im doing the belt and all the other crap with it. so if anyone else has any subjestions it whould be appreicated.

go the cheap route first, more often than not its not the thermostat that bad but the ECT, which i believe audi recently made a recall for. on your car its a $25 off ecs tuning probably cheaper at your local auto parts store. on your car its on the back of the engine and take all but 5 mintues to fix. if this fails then its likely the thermostat which is tucked behind a bunch of stuff and not the cheapest thing to replace.
