engine wont turn off

I recently had this issue starting. I have a 2000 A4 1.8T. I go to turn the car off and it will stay running. The first time this happened I hit the brake and it turned off. Another time all the lights on my dash came on. This time I waited to see if it would turn off by itself and it didnt, hitting the brake didnt work either. The audi tech thinks it might be the ignition switch, he said sometimes the wires get burned or the solder joins together making a short. Has anyone ever had this problem and what did you do to fix it??? please help H2O is comming and i want my car to make it there!!!

RE: engine wont turn off

You just answered your own question, the ignition switch is at fault. You need to take apart the column and replace the electrical part of the ignition switch, common problem.
