I have 1998 audi a6 in 145000 miles. The engine runs great. It was well kept and I know the previous owner.
Very bad thing happened other night is that I forgot to turn off the engine when I was getting gas. And I filled it up.After I am done fueling I recognized that the engine was on and the second I started Pulling out the engine check light came out then I recognized my lights , blinking signals, wiper controller, and AC are down.I went to the mechanic he said nothing wrong with the engine and he reset it from battery and engine light gone but still other problems remained. He sent me an electrician and the guy did not figure it out neither. They say we need to put it on computer.Any suggestions or idea what happened?Am I facing very big issue here. I admit that I am dumb to not turn engine off when I was getting gas, but audi should have taken this into account.

1st, let me say that I cud KISS you (you know why, right?), b-cept that you're only a figmint of my imagination...[8D]

2nd, I can think of NO WAY fueling your car with the engine on would cause any sort of engine problems... unless the gas was CRAP, that is!

Even if it was a well-kept car, it's got 145,000 miles, things ARE gonna go wrong.

SOMEBODY post a s/n for someone on here who's got a vag-com in the newYAWK, newYAWK area for our new newyorker, willya?

When someone drops a name here, newyorker, pm them and find out how many 6-packs of whatever their favorite beer it'll cost you to get them to vag yer ride for you

The check engine light came on because you had an evap system leak. On just about all new cars fueling with the engine running will cause the check engine light to come on. No big deal thou. As soon as you put the cap back on the "leak" is fixed. The light would eventually go out by itself. Fueling with the engine on wont damage anything thou. The electrical issues are most likely unrelated. I would start by checking fuses.
