F-Right Wheel bent back. Suspension assembly or Sub-Frame?

I ran into a curb recently and as a result my front right wheel is bent backwards. I took it to a mechanic who told me the entire knee assembly would need to be replaced, charging $700. I took it to another mechanic who claimed the subframe would also need replacing, charging $1400. His logic was that the suspension assembly is made of aluminium and it will snap before bending. Therefore, it must be the subframe that bent. I thought these things were designed so the arms bend first?

Can anyone clarify here? I actually plan on doing it myself to save hundreds, I figure if I keep it organized it can't be that hard. I just need to know what parts are bent before I purchase them. Is the sub frame even the issue?

Also if it's minor, I was thinking it could be bent back then reinforced with something, to save money on parts?

No bending things back. It will never be right and yes, the aluminum parts will probably snap or crack when trying to fix them.. Find a used subframe. New is ridiculous money.
