Fair price for timing belt/water pump job?
I just bought a 1995 Audi 90 CS and i'm going to change the timing belt and water pump right away. I've had a few independent foreign auto garages give me some estimates, and they've all been $800-1000 dollars. I just don't understand why it costs so much? What is a fair price to pay?

RE: Fair price for timing belt/water pump job?
I found a kit from www.volksparts.com for 170 bucks so I ordered that. That should save a few bucks. I normally stick to German car repair shops for my autos, but I decided to call Goodyear up for the hell of it and they said they'd do the job (using my parts) for around $350 labor. That seems like a hell of a price, but can I trust a generic shop like that for a timing belt job?
