Default Gauge Cluster

2001 A4 1.8T Quattro, automatic transmission, 135 000 km.

What is the deal with the red LCD display in the middle of the gauge cluster. Almost every used audi I have seen has a problem with it, including mine. Some lines are burnt out like on an old graphing calculator. Is there a way to replace it or do I need to replace the whole gauge cluster. And if it all has to be replaced where can I find one, i have searched but no luck.

Thank you
