Gear oil woes?

Gear oil woes?
Hello all audi owners,
I am in need of some help. I had a leak in my manual 01A audi 90 quattro transmission for a 20v. I took care of it and did a gear oil swap a feel that I was steered in the wrong direction.
I know our quattro transmissions are yellow metal synchro. I was asking around for oil to use and some one recommended lucas synthetic 75w90 with lucas oil synthetic additive. Long story short, I swapped it out to the lucas and now third gear is a PITA!
3rd gear pops out now and will not enter gear a lot. I just parked her and pulled out a spare transmission but before I go and do the swap is it possible the lucas is not really gl4 compliant as our transmissions need? Is it possible all the special additives and and EP gl-5 rating is causing my synchro to argue?
I also saw in forum that pennzoil syncromesh has helped people with finicky synchros. Anyone know about this?
Thanks for all the help
