Default Ghost in the Machine (2004 A4)

I'm having a strange problem that I need some assistance with.
For the past couple of weeks I'm having some on/off problems with my brake lights turning on. I will park my car for the night, verifying all lights are off & when I get up the next day to go to work the rear brakes are on. No other lights, just the brake lights. Car starts up fine. This doesn't happen every night & it has occurred once in the afternoon. Can't figure it out. I even checked the car around midnight, all lights off. 7am the next morning, lights are on.
I have a 2004 Audi A4 3.0 conv with 49K miles.
Any suggestions?

Thanks...Mike

if its an auto more than likey its a brake light switch i know theres a recall for the VW and the B5 A4 not sure on your car though, would hurt to call the dealer, if not im sure you can find a DIY online.
