Hairline crack on my oil pan.

Hi Everyone,

I have an 07 A4 that has a hairline crack on the oil pan. Audi says it is leaking oil very slowly but I cant get it fixed until next Wed/Thurs.The problem is, I have a trip to California from Las Vegas this Monday andTuesdayso my question is.. is it safe to drive my car from Las Vegas, NV to Oceanside, CA and back with that hairline crackon the oil pan? Will it cause any other damages if I do drive the car to CA? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks!

it should be good, but if your still worried, clean the area with some alcohol and put on some jbweld, it should hold for quite some time (talking months) until you can change the pan.

JB Weld is definitely your trick. Make sure you apply it properly, I usually use a nail because it is quite viscous but I would scape it across with a puddy knife to make sure it goes in the crack a time or two then scrape it clean. The best way would to leave a small bead and let it set then grind it down, it is machinable....Good Luck, post if it works.. Read the back of the package, it has the same success stories printed since like the 70's and they are awesome. JB Weld saved my life in an mechanical engineering internship I had for a packing machine refit...
