Has anyone ever come across a Stripped head Cover nut. I have a 2.8 a4 and its on the driver side on the bottom toward the fire wall. I noticed that the threads on the nut, when I got it off were all gone. But the post seems ok. I planned on using a die and re cutting the threads on the post and replacing the nut. Any thoughts on this?

 

Hopefully there will be enough "meat" on the stud where it counts. I've had to do this on something else and let's say there's not the same torquing there. Always worth a shot.

 

yea that's kind of my concern. But I figure the 7 ft lbs is not too much. like you said worth a shot. I'll let you know how it goes
