Default heat shield and ignition coil

i drive a 2000 S4 TT quattro and i was told that my heat shield was rattling. is there anyway to repair that without alot oftrouble? and also my car is misfiring randomly and so i changedall the spark plugs. then my engine light turned on againand i was told that it was my ignition coil. is there anyway i can find out which cylinder it is without testing all of it?

Default RE: heat shield and ignition coil

yeah the heat shields are really damn hard to get at without a rack, so i wouldn't worry about it too much. the ignition coils in the car however can generate their own fault codes because the power output stages are built in to the coils. But beware, these coils are very expensive so take a seat when they tell you the price. If its an older style where the output stages are seperate its more than likely its the output stage thats malfunctioning, but those usually are more than $300 too.
