Default Help! 2010 A5 Quattro

I just bought a 2010 Audi A5 Quattro, automatic. Within 24hrs of purchasing it, the check engine light has come on. The car will stall, mainly at low rpms. I took the car to my friend & he scanned it. It is saying that it is under boost. What could it be!? We have replaced the cam sensor so far. The previous owner just replaced the timing chain a couple weeks ago.

Does the previous owner have the paperwork for the timing chain? Maybe you can bring it back to the repair shop to have them look over their work.

Does the car idle fine?

My first guess would be vacuum leaks somewhere

I have the receipt from where it was done. We bought the car from a dealer, & it’s about 3 hours from where we live. I don’t think the car would even make it back there. The car will sit & idle but if you are driving it, and coming down in speed, it will just shut off. It seems to do well with acceleration! Thank you for any input you have

That is very sheisty if the CEL came on within 24 hours of purchasing. Did you purchase it from the dealership or from the person? Did you purchase it as-is? Maybe/hopefully you have some way to get out from under the car...

How does it feel when it idles?

Do you have another dealership nearby with a similar car that you could test drive to see if your car is idling normal, relative to another Audi with the same engine?

The cam sensor is what most of the Audi techs like to replace first, so that was a good idea.

Go over all the vacuum lines to see if you see anything loose. I am sorry I cannot redirect you to a diagram, but hopefully someone more senior can chime in here.

If your car is throwing an underboost CEL. Was it the P0299 or something else?
Do a google search for the actual scan code... that is the best way to attack this problem.

It's the Turbo charger assembly.... it's the waste gate rod worn and creating an air leak actually but the whole assembly will need to be replaced. Pretty messed up that someone just cleared codes and said here yah go. Lets hunt them down!!!
