Help, A6 shut off shaking, CEL
I have a 96 A6 Quattro,133K, I have owned for 3 months. Tonight I came to a stop sign and it shook a little and my car stalled, I restarted and the CEL light and the low oil light came on, 2 blocks down at the next stop sign, it shut off shaking kind of hard,. So I decided to drive to my buddies just down the road, just before I got to his house it shut off again, shaking quite hard and would not start, It turned over and kept making a odd loud buzzing noise!!! A few minutes later it started and I drove it 2 blocks down to my friends house, it shut off again when I came to a stop. I borrowed his car and came home, I live 45 minutes away and had to get back. Any ideas what the heck this could be??? I searched and thought it might be a fuel filter issue, .. Thanks

RE: Help, A6 shut off shaking, CEL
I drove it home today, it shut off at every stop sign, and the RPMS were jumping from 1 to 7 and bouncing around, then the RPM gauge just read zero while I was driving, and it is shifting really hard, and has hardly any power????

Ok, I read the codes, it had 22 codes!!
Manufactuer Ignition control
Engine Speed Input no signal
Fuel ari metering
TPS Pedal Sensor Malfunction
Auxillary Inputs Control
02 Heater circuit
#5 cylinder miss
And a lot of doubles, I cleared them all out, started the car and only got the Engine Speed sensor Malfunciton back on. I drove around the block hardly making it at all, and still got just the Engine Speed sensor Malfunction..

If the TPS is not working, you will not be able to get proper throttle.
also you need to find out what part of the ignition is failing.
Sounds like you need a new MAF.
First thing, the throttle need to work, then work from there.
