Hello I am a new member hoping that a A4 techie will come to the rescue.....

My car failed the MOT because the ESP lamp came on and it was diagnosed as the Lateral Acceleration Sensor. To replace this I was quoted £715.00 plus VAT.

My car is a 2005 Audi A4 Avant V6 2.5 Auto. The chassis number is WAUZZZ8E15A478704.

I have a colleague at work who has VAG COM software uploaded onto his laptop and uses it regularly on his own car.

i have contemplated purchasing a used part and I am wondering if a used part (providing it is the same part number) can be rest/reprogrammed/initialised to my vehicle very easily with VAG COM.

If so, can you also tell me where it is fitted in the vehicle? I think it is somewhere around the centre console/lower dashboard area. It is easy to access.
