Default ignition coil pack

I have a 2002 a4 quattro (1.8t) and my check engine light came on, began blinking and my car was running really ruff. I ran an obd II check on it and i narrowed it down to a bad coil pack...so i have been looking for a replacement online and they keep saying that all 4 are required...Do i really need to replace all 4 or will replacing that one bad coil be ok??? thanks for the help guys

You CUD replace only one, but no mechanic in their right mind would recommend that. What if you replace just that one, and another one goes the way of teh wholly mammoth, tomorrow? Not that they're a matched set or anything, but, why chance it? They cant be THAT expensive, can they? (don't answer, I already know they CAN.) send a pm to rayveedub and see if he can get you a good rate for a set of coil paks.

thanks as always for the refferal jazz, and joserv, you definately have to replace all 4, doing only one will cause misfires. unfortunatly my prices arent that great on coilpacks. after shipping you might save 5-10 bucks. i sell them for 28 a piece for oem plus shipping.

You dont have to replace them as a set. Many times 1 coil will fix a vehicle for a long time. For 28 bucks it may not be a bad part to have one stashed in the trunk somewhere.
