Default indicator fault

hello there,i need some wisdom please as ive got a fault with the indicatorss on an a4 sport 1.8t.the hazards work fine but the indicators have become a problem.they blink a few times then cut out on either turn but now and again they work fine.but, sometimes when the indicators self cancel by clicking off, both green indicator arrows appear very breifly on the instrument cluster.
the relay works noticably faster on hazzard than it does on indication.the switch feels fine and so does the indicator stalk.
any ideas?is there anything common i should look for?hazard switch, relay, indicator switch or poor earth??!!please help, cheers

hazard relays are common problems... they short out inside and mess things up. i haven't seen them cause problems like your having but you never kno.
