indicator switch relay replacement 1998 S8

1998 S8 4.2 Quattro 119K Miles Tiptronic 5 speed auto.

I have diagnosed a faulty indicator/headlight/cruise control/parking lightswitch relay that I have purchased a replacement for. A warning light of yellow bulb with a cross or X through it comes up on the dash when indicating left turns with the car moving. Essentially the parking lights on the left hand side come on when the left hand indicator is applied - I figured it is the switch/relay that has gone and have bought the whole unit to replace it with..

Question, do I have to remove the steering wheel to remove and replace this part? I haven't started yet

Here's a picture if it helps

RE: indicator switch relay replacement 1998 S8

yeah you do... it was fairly easy on my car.. i had to switch out the ingnition switch. my headlights, blinkers and wipers stoped working.
do a search for it youll find how to get to it.. its probably about 10 things to unscrew.. good luck
