INSTALLING A CHIP?
Car: 2000 S4 6MT BI-TURBO.
Just bought a chip (GIAC X-CHIP 91-93 octane). I have pulled the computer and can see everything including the old chip (disconected the battery). My question is what's next? I guess I could pay someone about $100.00 to install it, but it looks ez from here. Do I take off the stock chip and place the X-chip in it's place? Do I place the new chip on top of the stock one? Is their any other necesary steps to load the new program? I bet you guys are saying, "just pay the $100", but i'm so close! Can any one please shed light on this situation.
Million thanx.... Not cheap just want some hands on......

RE: INSTALLING A CHIP?
Contact GIAC to make sure it's a real chip. Most everything is now flashed, so no hardware, just software.
They will be able to tell you how it needs to be soldered to the board, it really should not be $100 to get it done.

RE: INSTALLING A CHIP?
i personally dont mind doing that kinda stuff, and i really like it. i dont know audis well enough though, so i went to a tuner shop and they did it for me. i didnt want to take a risk with my A6, im not that rich to break it and not worry about it
