Loud Noise When Cold?
I park at a parking garage at work and it's not enclosed. The past couple of day have been extremely cold. Low teens. 19 for a high and when I have started my car, it's made a very loud whining noise. It gets even worse when I turn the wheel. No CEL. No performance issues. Does anyone know what this could be? It goes away after about 20 minutes but I have to turn the car off and then back on to make it go away. Anyone know what this could be? Is it just cold??? Any suggestions would be great.
Sounds like it might be your powersteering pump. When the fluids cold it hasta work harder to assis you in directional control... After steering for a while the fluid warms up and teh noise goes away. Check your resovoir to make sure your fluid levels are correct. No one EVER checks their P/S fluid.
