Mass Air Flow Sensor

I have a 2001 Audi A4 1.8 Quattro Turbo silver beauty. My engine light has been on for 3 weeks now. I finally went to the dealer yesterday and they told me I need a new Mass Air Flow Sensor. I was given an installation quote of $600.00

I think it's a rip off. I want to do it myself. I've seen the part online for around $150. If you know of a cheaper website, let me know.
Is this part easily installed? Does anyone have an installation schematic or something walks me through the installation?

Can anyone help?

Alex

ECS Tuning sells a remanufactured oem part for less than $50. The install is easy. The MAF is just past the airbox, you cant miss it. Just a few screws to remove and it pops out.

Hey great thanks to all for the help. I was getting frustrated. Now last question, There are several of these MAF units on the ECS Tuning site. I didn't see a remanufactured one for under $50.00. Can you guys help me buy the right one? I've seen a remanufactured one for $124 and a new one for $200.
Also, For the pics of the installation, can you blow them up or print them out or email them to me:

You can call ECS Tuning and ask which MAFs are available for your VIN (AWM).

Does anyone have a diagram on how to remove the Mass Air Flow Sensor? I took the rubber cap off the top and see it. I see the 2 screws holding the metal shielding, but I'm a little lost after that? I am an electronics installer, not a mechanic and I want to tackle this myself...

Thanks Jestnomen,

Pics are missing, but I think I can try to figure it out. Now i'll just have to wait till Monday to order the MAF!!!

Tell, do i really need to disconnect the batter cable? I don't have my radio code!

no to battery off mate as long as you don't turn the ignition on while the MAF is disconnected in fact done even put the key in till the jobs complete and dont forget to reset the computer ;)

Yeah disconnecting the battery isn't needed.
