I would first like to thank everyone on the forum. This is the first time I have ever posted anything but I have got a lot of great information in the last few years. I have a ‘00 A4 1.8T with an automatic Trans. I was driving to work and I was hearing a humming nosie from under the hook, I thought it was the power steering pump, so i added some fluid. I got back on the road and the car seemed quit, after getting a few blocks away, my trans started slipping. Now when I put the car into gear is doesn’t move. Any suggestion, is it time for a new trans?

 

Get under the car and see if its leaking fluid. If its not take it to a shop to get the fault codes checked, there may be an electrical problem or something.
