Default my car is dying

I just bought a 1995 A6, and when i bought it, it seemed to run fine....than a few days later when i was driving down the road, i pressed the gas and the car started to sputter and make a sort of putting noise.....i let off the gas and pressed it again and the problem seemed to have gone away...(i thought since the car had sat for 6 months prior to running again there might be deposits that needed to be driven out)... not thinking anything of it, it happened every so often for a week until the other night when i left my friends house, when it sputtered, putted a little, than just died. Now it's sitting at the shop and it runs for two seconds before it dies again, and the mechanics are having trouble diagnosing the problem.............

Has this problem ever happened to anyone? Or does anyone know what might be the problem?

thanks, Jeff

Default RE: my car is dying

okey lets first find out if the spputing is from reach or lean condition.
Check if the area around the exasut is covered in black stuff. And if you have a black ring around the tail pipe too.

It matters. Prematurly, like nurses in Hospitals, I would say there is a MAF or Throtle position. Disconect them and try to run the car. Also check for vacuem leaks and broken rubber tubes. Thats premature, so there could be other reasons.

PM me freally even IM if you want.
