Hi,
It seems the the clips for the inside and outside door handles of my 1995 audi cabriolet have become disconnected at the locking mechanism. The door is closed and there seems to be no way to open it. Is there anything that I can do to fix it myself? Or do I have to bring it to a mechanic? would that cost a lot of $$$? :[[[

If it's completely disconnected on the inside - where the latch isn't connected to either handle - then sorry to say, but you may have to cut open the interior door panel to repair it and then replace the panel with a new one from someone parting out a car. Only way I can think of to take care of that.

 

I checked it out on my '95 Cab. Lower the window. Near the rear of the door you can look down through the window slot, with a flashlight, and see the door operating rod. It connects to a tab on the door lock. I used a dowel rod and pusheddown on thetab that the rod connects to, and the door opened. Push on the tab that is labeled 4 in the expanded view. The interior door handle uses a bowden cable and you can't get to the attach point in the lock without removing the trim, which you can't do with the door shut.Make sure the door isn't locked. If that doesn't work, remove the interior door handle and see if you can pull on the bowden cable. Pull the interior handle to the open position and there isa hole that has a screw at the bottom of it. Should come out easy. After that,it starts getting tough.
