newbie; TT225 vs. TT180 vs. 1.8T?
I'm new into these models and can't find the old data on the diffs between these versions-- what are they? Can the zippier TT 1.8 upgrades be easily applied to the A4 1.8T??
What are the 1st engine mods I should be considering for the A4 1.8T Q?
Thanks!! Mike

RE: newbie; TT225 vs. TT180 vs. 1.8T?
Welcome to the forums! Hope you like it here. As for your question, they are all based on the 1.8t engine. The 1.8t is a vey easily modified engine. The biggest bang for the buck mod you can do is to chip it. That will accomplish many things, such as increasing your turbo boost and remapping your fuel delivery. Thus, more horsepower. There are many companies that make chips for the 1.8t, the two most popular around here seem to be GIAC and APR. After that, upgrading the diverter valve, the turbo itself and exhaust all increase hosrepower as well. I'd love a TT myself, but it's not practical for me because of the size. I've got an A4 Avant 1.8tq.

the 225hp TT uses a k04 turbo where as the 180hp TT uses a K03 like the A4 1.8T uses
the TT has a transverse mouted engine where as the A4 has a longitudaly mounted engine yes you could buy a k04 turbo for an A4 but it wouldnt be a direct swap from a TT

RE: newbie; TT225 vs. TT180 vs. 1.8T?
thanks for the notes-- the chip will be coming soon. Are there instructions available for the install?
Still, is the 1.8T just a K04 away from being a TT225 setup or are there other hard parts (cams, head, etc). that separate them? I noted that the 225 doesn't run the same compression (9.0 vs. 9.3 for the 1.8T) and wondered if that was also due to the larger hairdryer....
I really considered the 3.0L but I didn't think it would be a much fun as gettin it done with the turbo.....
