Hi. I was in the General Tech fourm under post "No Reverse" by rugby. I am having the same problem, kinda. I don't know what caused mine to go out, but I don't have reverse in my car. I have a 1997 A4 1.8t not the quattro though. I would like to know how to fix this, and what is the problem? I replaced the multi-function switch in 2004. For a time, the reverse worked, but now is gone again. Also, my gear select is constantly lit like i am choosing all gears, and my car will not go into overdrive.Can you help me?

when all the lights are on 1 2 3 4 5 there will be a code stored in the transmission ECU and it needs to be scanned with VAG or dealer ( you could pull the fuse for the transmission ECU ) it might reset it don't unplug the ECU wiring harness it will damage it,

not 100% sure but there was an issue with automatic transmission software update you could ask your local dealer because if it were a recall it will be free
