Oil Consumption

Oil Consumption
We have an '09 A4 with the 2.0 turbo, and 46K miles. It has always used a bit of oil, and I've had the 'add' light come on twice in the last 5k miles or thereabouts.
I'm going to discuss it with the dealer, but I wanted some input here; where is the oil going? It's not visibly burning it nor leaking it, and a VW Passat (V-6 in that) also used some oil, so we weren't especially surprised when this one used it. Can we expect any sympathy or dealer support at this stage?
The electronic oil check is a PITA (they could have put a standard dipstick in as well IMHO).
We really like the car, and are seriously considering a Q5 in the not far distant future, but the oil consumption issue in VW/Audi products seems to be, well, an issue. (So you know, my X1 Beemer hasn't used a drop.... )
Advice appreciated.

If you buy a Q5 with the 2.0t, you'll probably have the same issue.
Oil consumption is a known issue, and eventually you can get the dealer or Audi to pay for it. I think it involves some new piston rings.

I have a 09 A4 Avant with 51,000 miles. The turbo went out two weeks ago, and I also have occasionally in the past had to add oil. It never occurred to me that it was a problem as I had a 03 TT and had similar experience. However, upon repairing the turbo the dealer informed me that the crank case seal and breather valve were also in need of repair and were related to a known oil consumption issue. I was told to return to the dealer in 600 -1000 miles and they will check consumption, but 90% of these instances need an engine rebuild. Covered by Audi, but pretty disappointing. I just spent $1800 on other repairs in March. (oil sensor, thermometer, and o ring)

We have been up to our *** in alligators this summer, and haven't had time to get the car in for service. The oil use is an irritant, but not a major problem, particularly if it doesn't get any worse.
We'll dance it past the dealer someday soon, and see what he has to say. In the meantime, thnx for the comebacks, and any other specifics would be appreciated.
I'd love to know what the issue is with VW/Audi engines; my long-ago Siroccos didn't use a drop, tho' a VW camper bus with a bad seal on a pushrod tube was another matter entirely.
