Oil Leak From Valve Cover On 97 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8L

Default Oil Leak From Valve Cover On 97 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8L

I want to buy a 97 Audi A4 but it has a small oil leak he beliefs is coming from the valve cover.Is this a minor fix or is it a deal breaker?let me know if I should invest the money or walk away.Thank you.

Well, if you're not sure to do it yourself better leave it to a dealer. It's good to buy it if there is only a valve cover issue.

yes,as far as I know its coming from the valve cover.Also it has a problem with the power steering because it makes a noise when it starts up.Any info on that?thank you I appreciate the feedback.

A valve cover gasket set can be bought for about $50 (both sides), and anyone you know who has some mechanical experience can change them both in less than an hour. As for power steering, if the fluid level looks to be right, burp the system (cap off, turn the wheel lock to lock 10-15 times in each direction with the engine running), and then check the level again. Top off with Pentosin CHF11S power steering fluid as needed. If that's no fix, you may have a pump wearing out. A new pump is less than $100 and not all that difficult a change either. Depending on the asking price, these may not be deal-breakers at all.
