overall quality

ive been a fan of audi ever sicne the first gen tt came out, the way the car looked sparked my intrest and i started looking at other audi models. i was wonder how do you feels about the overall quality of audis? obviously there are going to be soem lemons but is the car solid with not to many issues or many major issue? also if the people that maybe have owned a mecedes or bmw could compare their audi's to thoose cars in quality that woudl be great thanks.

RE: overall quality, MBZ

Owned a 1997 MBZ C280 for 10.5 years. I want to say that overall it was a reliable car. Nevertheless, despite regular maintenance, at 75,000 miles, it required a new radiator and suffered the dreaded cylinder head gasket, oil leak. These two repairs, far out of warranty, certainly were equal to the cost of an extended warranty. At 95,000 miles, the catalytic converters crapped out (which can't be ignored in Calif.) --wholesaledit off at that point -- too expensive to repair relative to its value. In short, I enjoyed the car but didn't consider it any more bulletproof than any other car. I replaced it with a 2007 A3, 2.0Twhich I plankeep for 10 years. Will I need to replace the timing belt, tensioner, w/p, etc? The turbo? Most likely, but the cost will be about what I put into the C280. I am willing to pay the price for performance, handling and comfort.
