remove you cats and put in the test pipe. also a drop in filter would help a little bit but make sure you are religous on the oiling of it. high dollar spark plugs help out a little too, and make sure the injectors are clean. Then you can start playing with timing. Oh yeah get a wideband o2 sensor. eiptuning.com has a sweet one that is a awesome mod.

no offense, as I don't know much about audi as I am new to owning one. But my experiance with cars is, on newer cars, if it is not a turbo engine, you kind of don't want to open up the exhaust system to early in the modding stage, as per the engine needs some back pressure, if it was turbo you can because the turbo supplies that needed back pressure (just my $.02).

As of buying a wideband (expensive for a good one) what good would that really do you? I mean your not tuning out A/F ratios to adjust boost, and well, pulling timing doesnt really effect that highly unless you screw it up and your not even burning the gas, but then your talking a totally different aspect.

Maybe a timing gun to help with the timing job, and a high quality monitering tool and drill the block and place a aftermarket knock sensor in (or just a screwdriver to the ear works too).

(flame if you want, as per I am new to audis, but from working on turbo 4G63s and working on V8 LT1s, LT4s and LS1s this has kinda been my learnings).

Glade Plug In makes a sweet mod for fresh Air to the cabin [8D]

No job and not a lot of cash... why do you want to mod it?

How about you just make it look good. Audio, Video, PS2? Trust me you don't have to beat your friends off the line if you have 5 women playin PS2 with you in the back seat.
