Default Performance Upgrades

When I first got my 1998 Audi A4 Quattro with the 1.8 liter engine it was nice and a lot faster than the 1985 Chevrolet K5 Blazer I had become used to then again a 6 month old pile of poo would go faster than the truck. Back to the point, it used to feel fast and nice, but now it’s feeling a bit slower. Especially after my friend Scion Tc beat me on the freeway. It was dirt. Moreover, I want more power, speed, and handling. What are the best/easiest ways of attaining this? Some ideas I had were getting a performance chip, exhaust, hotchkis sway bars, and I’m not sure if I really want to lower it yet.

So your help lay here.

1 – What chip to I get and where should I get it?
2 – What exhaust should I get?
3 – Anything else I should get to make it go faster?

Now sadly I live in California so it does have to be CARB legal, but any help would be appreciated.

1- APR or GIAC. On their sites they have dealer listings. Go for the closest one.
2- APR and Borla are the most popular. But look around the sites listed and you can get a better feel for what you're looking for. There are also some sound clips running around for some of the exhaust systems.
3- Before you upgrade your chip, get a new diverter valve. If you're just doing the chip and exhaust, the 710N valve (available at an Audi dealer for ~$30) is your best bet.

The sway bars are a good idea, but unless you upgrade your springs and shocks, it will be wasted money.
