hi i need to replace petrol filter how difficult can anyone advise also i am getting a bit of diesel knock any ideas its done 190.000

Most of us here are from the US, so we don't have TDi's. Sorry.

 

Usually the diesel filter is easy to change, whether its in the engine compartment or under the car. The hard part is priming the system after the change. You have to make sure there is no air in the system or your car wont start after the replacement. Its a must to fill the new filter with disel. It may also be necessary to crack the lines going to the injectors to bleed out any air in the system.

As for the knock, all diesels knock to some degree. If it seems abnormally loud you may have excessive carbon buildup.

 

190.000 is that imperial or metric?? age of car engine size would help
