please help 1997 a4 quattro

please help 1997 a4 quattro

I just found a loose wire under the coolant resevoir with pin connectors and purple clip on end does anyone know what it is. Also posted a thread about tranny issues any help would be greatly appreciated

Might be the one that plugs into the bottom of the coolant tank.
