I have been haveing some shifting problems in my tranny, i took it to the local vw/audi mechanic and he pulled the codes, there were two he got. One said that the braking sensor was throwing a code and another code i dont know what is was. He said he replace the braking sensor and the problem was still there so he said he could replace my transmission at a cost of 3900-4100.00 dollars not including labor. He said that my transmission would be new from AUDI. Does anyone here have a a8 that has had a new tranny put in cause i want to know if the tranny i put in will go out in record time just like the original, cause i heard that these model audis are know for bad transmissions. So is it worth replacing a tranny from AUDI, my mechanic said he could get an aftermarket tranny for my car for 3000.00 or maybe he said it would be a rebuilt audi tranny from an aftermarket company. I seriously love my car but have not been driving it due to its totally sparatic and unpredictable behavior in the tranny. if you want to know it gear hunts while cruising and when im creeping along say approaching a stop sign it will drop into first and make the car come to a very abrupt stop
